Welcome to the Suncoast Bridge Association, also known as Unit 102 of the American Contract Bridge League. We have been in existence for 10 years, serving the bridge needs of the greater Sarasota bridge community.
Our services to the bridge membership include running local tournaments and special games, including a Regional tournament every other year in February
( next in 2011), three Sectional tournaments in January, May, and November, a member Awards luncheon and Swiss Teams in March, and a special Charity Swiss Teams event in June.
We also sponsor a Youth for Bridge program, in which we give bridge lessons to area youth in several different venues around Sarasota. We are targeting middle school age children, and the program is going very well. Our students have played in the Youth Nationals in New Orleans and in the Youth game held at the Orlando NABC in November , 2010 and done well in competition with their peers. This program has been very rewarding for students and “coaches” alike.
We have also invested in subsidizing the cost of an automatic dealing machine for use by our local clubs. This has improved the fairness of local games, as all sections play the same hands. Also, hand records provide an additional enhancement to club play.
