Saturday Schedule:
Compact K.O. or 2 Session Pairs ???
that is the first question; next ... ...
How to score Swiss
Team Events, 20 Pts. or 30 Pts. scale ?
Finnally, what
should be the minimum Size of Bracket I. of the Knock-Out Teams ?
There are conflicting beliefs about the
preferences of our players, relative to the Pair Events' Format versus Compact
Knock-Outs at our Sectional Tournaments, about the way Swiss Team results are
scored and the way Knockout Event Brackets are sized.
[1] - Should Saturday be organized as a Compact K.O. day with concurrent two
single-session events or one two-session pair game (with single sessions
accommodated), or alternate the two; Sectional-to-Sectional ?
[2] - Should Swiss Team events be scored with the 30 Pts. scale or
via the 20 Pts. scale? Before you decide,
please study the two tables on your convention card and compare, decide, which
one is favorable to you: note the
overall effect of a small (1 or 2 IMP) loss on both scales.
[3] - With the
ACBL-mandated minimum bracket size of six teams, the bottom three or four teams
ending up in the Top Bracket are but cannon-fodder, lubricating the machinery
with their (figurative) blood for the top teams on their way to acquire their 13.0 or 9.0 MP-s.
The total MP holding of the team third or fourth from the top is usually less
than one-half of the team above them in Bracket I. Should the ACBL Rule of minimum 6 be
changed ?
