This feature is intended to assist you in finding
whatever you may need, without having to "wade" through all of
our pages ...
Use the form below to search for pages in this WebSite
of ours, containing specific words or combinations of words you want. The
text "Search Engine" will display a list of pages (it calls them
"Documents") matching, with the best ones first.
Each list item is a "link"
to that page (click on it, to get there) ... if it has a title,
that will be shown, otherwise (regretfully) only a file name is
displayed. Would you need help how to progress further, click on the
next step. A brief explanation of the
query language (that is the first step) is available below, along with examples.
Once you have the list of pages, but your first link is
not the one you were looking for, use the "back"
arrow on the top toolbar of your browser to return to this list for the
next page, etc.

The text search engine allows queries to be formed from
arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and
NOT, with 'quote' marks enclosing the words searched for (not the
keywords)! See examples below:
- information retrieval
- finds page(s) containing the word 'information' or 'retrieval'
- 'information' or 'retrieval'
- exactly as above
- 'information' and 'retrieval'
- finds page(s) containing both the words 'information'
and 'retrieval'
- 'information' not 'retrieval'
- finds page(s) containing the word 'information' but not
'retrieval'
- 'information' not 'retrieval' and 'Hearts'
- finds page(s) containing 'Hearts', plus 'information'
but not 'retrieval'
- sect*
- finds page(s) containing words starting with 'sect', note
the "*"
